It was my birthday to day so i celebrated by watching my motorcycle fall off it’s stand (DOH! ,and also front brake levers cost HOW MUCH??), working, shopping and more work. The work was actually quite satisfying because i’m at last making major progress with Dad’s D5 ! Well, progress that’s noticeable at least.

Today i fitted the new bullgear with it’s shaft and buttoned up the main casing.Probably next week we’ll get a guy to come out and press the main sprocket on- that takes 60 tons of pressure so definitely something we cant do.
Just think -things are moving so fast i might actually finish it before this decade is out!haha

Also,it feels weird breaking into my second half century. It’s so strange getting old.My mind still feels somewhere around 25

Love your screenname

And respect for working on something like that. Looks incredibly intimidating to me.

From personal experience, it’s not bad at all. Old equipment is pretty easy to work on, just the problem of everything being so darn heavy.

I once took a long-distance ride on my ‘98 Ninja 250 from south-central Wisconsin to the NW corner of Iowa to visit a friend.

On the way back (doing 90+ across the Minnesota Interstate, naturally), I went to get gas and found my front brake lever had fallen off sometime in the previous 200 miles.

Cashing in all of my luck for the next 5 years, the exit I got off at was the only exit I had seen during the entire journey that had a Kawasaki dealership, and they were open, AND they had a lever and bolt in stock. Best $35 I have ever spent.

A friend of mine bought a Suburban that gave him nothing but trouble. One afternoon he was on the interstate when it died. He was fortunate to be near an exit, so he dropped it into neutral, negotiated the exit, and coasted into a dealer’s lot. He drove the rest of the way home in a new Dodge Ram.

I'm sad this story didn't have a happy ending.
